When it comes to my skincare routine its simple. I find the simpler the routine, the better my skin reacts. I got to the point where I was buying/using so many products that my face was starting to badly break out. I was over exfoliating. When you over exfoliate, you create these micro tears within the skin; that can hold bacteria, cause irritation & eventually form pimples. On top of those tears, I was adding way too much vitamin c! I was asking for breakouts without even knowing it.
Once I finally did my research (YouTube because I am a visual learner and I have to see what their talking about) on skincare and started to understand my problems, I then worked on getting my skin under control. Although, the damage was already done and I had the worst hyperpigmentation ( hyperpigmentation -/ Darken patches or spots on the skin ) I turned back to YouTube. I learned about retinal, glycolic acid, AHA & BHA. The most common brand talked about was The Ordinary. I was excited to go out and purchase but, first I needed to figure out what was for me.
FAQ ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE ORDINARY
1. What products do I use ? and why?
AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution & 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil.
I purchased these two products for different reasons of course.
The AHA & BHA Peeling Solution is an liquid exfoliate that treats dullness and uneven texture which I have a lot of. The Peeling Solution contains Glycolic Acid + Lactic Acid that both exfoliates the outer layer of skin, this has helped with probably 50% of my hyperpigmentation recovery; and Salicylic Acid that helps exfoliates inside the pores to reduce congestion & reduces acne to form due to clogged pores. The Rose Hip Seed Oil was purchased to help hydrate my skin but I also learned that Rose Hip Seed Oil is Rich in Vitamin A which we all know is great for cell function.
2. What do I love the most about The Ordinary products ?
I love how affordable the brand is. The Ordinary products price ranges from $3.95 - $28.10 depending on what product you are looking for. I also love how effective each product is. Using my peeling solution I've seen an improvement in just a couple weeks; but be aware that I have down packed a solid skincare routine to help with the progress of my skin. The Ordinary also gives easy instructions on How-To use each product carefully, which is super important because you are dealing with acids. The only thing I would recommend from The Ordinary is to help explain more of what products don't work well together.
3. How should someone find the right products to use ?
Research. I cant stress that enough.
DO NOT buy every product that The Ordinary has; you'll end up using the wrong acids together and you don't want to burn your skin off ( joking, not joking ). Find out what problems your skin is having and make the best decisions possible.
